Japan which consisted of four main island Hokkaido, Honshu, Shinokoku, Kyushu, and hundreds of smaller ones was heavily influenced by Buddhism and Chinese culture. They adopted a mixture of Confucianism (Chinese writing) and Buddhism. There are a lot of similarity between a Chinese architecture and Japanese architecture. The Japanese people group were very into the flow of energy. They had minimal furniture and everything was impermanent. There architecture was light weight because of the many earthquakes. They wanted to bring nature into their environment; their architecture is very open to let nature in. But the true architectural beauty in Japanese culture are their Buddhist gardens.
